CRB Member Elected American Society for Virology (ASV) President
Shan-Lu Liu, MD, PhD, professor of virology and co-director of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) Viruses and Emerging Pathogens Thematic Program, has been elected president of the American Society for Virology (ASV). Dr. Liu is also associate director of the Center for Retrovirus Research at Ohio State located in the College of Veterinary Medicine.
ASV is the largest virology-focused scientific organization with 2,800 members and is committed to developing and expanding a diverse virology community to promote research and education on viruses. In the role of president, Dr. Liu will serve as the chief executive officer and chair of the ASV council and will preside at ASV society and council meetings. Dr. Liu will serve as president-elect July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025, and will serve as president July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026.
In addition to this prestigious appointment, Dr. Liu is the faculty host director for the 2024 ASV Annual Meeting which will be held June 24-28, 2024, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
